Silica Raw Solubles

Silica is not considered one of the essential elements for plant growth but instead is considered a beneficial element. Most plants will take in silica which is then embedded into cell walls. This creates a reinforcement of the plant’s structural integrity. Silica also aids in the uptake of water and nutrients. Some of the silica will become embedded in the root cells which increases the permeability of the roots and provides better water flow into the roots, heightening the plant’s tolerance to drought. What makes the silica in the RAW Solubles line so impressive is that it is 45% silicon dioxide derived from diatomite. The biggest advantage of RAW Silica is that it is pH neutral and will not adversely affect the nutrient solution’s pH. Silica is not advantageous to all plant species. Rose and geranium growers can skip this additive as it does not benefit dicotyledon plants.
