Purple Sunset is a hybridborn from a crossing Purple Punch x Sunset Sherbet. This crossing releases a 50% indica - 50% sativa genetics, that completes its flowering period in 10 weeks, coming out in plants with an unbeatable taste, aroma and quality.

This hybrid presents two kush herency parentals, that combined are one of the best blends ever seen.

Purple Sunset feminized seeds

Growers Choice's Purple Sunset seeds are feminized and only produce female plants. If you don't have in mind setting up a seedbank, nor producing your own genetics, the main advantage of feminized seeds are they focus the important part, saving you time and money taking care of plants that can become male.

The structure of plants is medium, with a consistent trend to produce side-branching. These are plants with a quick developement, that can work perfectly indoor and outdoor growing, besides tolerating many different growing methods like SOG or SCROG.

Indoors don't usually grow taller than 120cm, while outdoors it can easily grow over 2 meters height.

Purple Sunset by Growers Choice in vegetative stage

As a good indica-sativa hybrid, Purple Sunset by Growers Choice has a vigorous growth, although being a medium-sized plant. Once 10 first days since appearance of cotiledons have passed (in which plants stay almost immobile) will start a quick and strong growth, with plants that acquire the needed size for transplanting to a bigger pot (outdoors) or to turn them to flowering stage (indoors).

Due its structure with a strong side-branching, this genetics can grow perfectly in SOG and SCROG type of gardens. Specially in SCROG-type she will find its best performance, filling the trellis so quick to cover the growing area in few days/weeks.

This strain does good with prunings, recovering from each cut so quick, restarting its growth without any stress. Outdoors pruning tops will help plants better resist strong winds and rains.

If you grow her outdoors you must know that she will stay in vegetative phase until late July (in some areas mid. August).

Flowering Purple Sunset indoors and outdoors

Purple Sunset has a flowering period of 10 weeks to 12/12. From these 10 weeks, first 7-10 days will be a transition to the new timeschedule, before begining to bloom. Once she starts flowering, Purple Sunset will take 8-9 weeks to be ready to harvest.

Outdoors the begining of flowering will be in mid. August, moment in which will start filling its branches with large and dense flowers, with a high resin production. We recommend having a microscope to check the ripeness of trichomes, but what's normal is that Purple Sunset will be ready to harvest in mid. October outdoors (northern hemisphere).

We are facing a genetics that can manage warm and cold climates, and still source you with good yields. In both cases, flower acquire that purple reflex that makes them so special in every garden or bag. This characteristic purple color, that can become even darker and look almost black in cases where temepratures decrease during the last two weeks of bloom. If this factor happens, grower will also notice an increase of resin production.

It is important to remember that even though this genetics can take 7-10 days more in beging ready to harvest than other strains, one of its advantages is the high resistance against mold, what gets her crops to be superior than other genetics that don't have this peculiarity.

Something that Purple Sunset will thank is you to remove its bottoms 7 days after first pistils appear. It is important to do it in that moment and not before to avoid plants to suffer from major stretch. If you remove those branches you will help plant redirect its energy to the tops, grouping in them the sum of all those little flowers that didn't fully form in bottom flower spots.

Growers Choice Purple Sunset is a heavy yielder, that reaches high yields in a quite short period of time.

Purple Sunset is not a genetics for those beginers, but you should not consider her difficult to grow. We could say that the growth difficult is medium (basically because those extra days of flowering period are an extra work compared with early harvest strains).

Although, it is quite eady to get good results indoors with yields up to 650 g/m2 and outdoors with yields up to 1 kg/plant when grown in-ground.

Another advantage that favors a its good yields per crop is that Purple Sunset tolerates different enviroment conditions and enjoys being grown in warm areas as well as in cold ares. In cases like Purple SUnset, that has a quite quick growth, and a good side-branching, our advise is to grow her in SCROG. 6 plants per m2 in 10-15L pots seems ideal to cover the grow area perfectly in an acceptable time.

Our tip is to let her grow naturally for 3-4 weeks, and then prune the tops once (or twice) before flipping them to bloom stage (in general 1 week more of vegetative stage after each prune is enough, but it is a grower's task to decide if it has been enough or not for the plant to recover from that pruning showing new growth).

As we already explained, due the good sidre-branching, it is convenient to remove low branches once plants have started to flower, to favor that small flowers in bottom spots, that didn't make it, move to buds at the tops, where will be useful to bring density and weight,

Outdoors she is not a plant that requires too many special attention more that what we already commented. Maybe a good tip is to prune her every 2-3 weeks along vegetative stage so you end having a height-controlled plant.

Other growing techniques Purple Sunset will properly react are supercropping and Low Stress Training. In both cases yields can be highly increased.
