Summertime is the perfect period for marijuana outdoor growth. Summer is not only a hot season, where plants resist against high temperatures, it's the perfect moment for an outdoor growing. During july plant's feeding is not a common problem because growers are usually there to feed the plants with the water needed. Arrived to early august, when most people is away for vacactions, is when plants demand more water and nutrients, so it's recommended to set up a automatic irrigation watering system to keep plants in the best way possible.
In this chapter we will discuss about watering systems recommended for marijuana growth outdoors, interraces and gardens to keep plants in a perfect vigourosity until our return.
First we should know to assure the needed water is know how much water does every plant need. During August, hot is usually the problem to battle against. During hottests months plants will require more water to not weak.
First of all we should mesure the water needed (for one day) to cover plant's needings. One easy way is to fill a can and use it to water a plant (in case of bigger demand repeat the operation) .
Once we know the volume needed per plant it's the momento to talk about different methods to supply water during our vacactions.
There are many methods to keep plants healthy and hydrated:
Water timer: Watering timmers are one of the best options if we will be away for longer periods. Are easy to adapt and allow to program how many minutes of water we want to give the plants, as well as how often we need to water the, (for every 24 hours). In cases where growers have more than one plant it will be necessary to divide to outake to multiply the only exit until the number needed.
Plate or tray: If we will be away for just one day or two, trays and plates are a good option. Growers just needs to water the plant and fill with extra water the tray so it keeps a reservoir for the day next. In these case it is important to protect the tray or plate against sunlight to avoid algae appearance, and heat, what will derive in problems for the grower..
Bottles and cans: It is an easy method and rudimentary, but offers good results for a short period of time. It is only necessary to fill the bottle an create a small hole in the tap (just enough to put a chopstick). The wood from the chopstick will allow the water to filter though it, dropping the water slowly in the pot. Once the system is set up we only need to put the can up side down to start working. This system works good, and is cheap, but only available for those case where the grower will be away for a short period of time (24h-48h).
Water tank and water pumps: If we do not have hose at the terrace, or garden, the usage of a water pump and a water tank could be a great solution for our problems. The system is easy and it only need electricity (for the water pump), and a timer (to program the water flow). The volume of water, the pump is able to move, should be divided by the number of plants the grower has. The system is easy to set up with a hose and connectors to divide in multiple outakes.
Irrigation by movement: This system is so cheap and functional. It is only necessary to place a water tank (big enough for our needings) in a higer places than plants are (it is useful to use a water tank with a faucet on its bottom). Placing the tank in tthe proper place, it is only needed to connect tubes to it and divide the only exit in how many plants we are growing, gravity will make the rest. To modify the volume of watering just semi-close the faucet or use adjustable drippers.
Kit Easy2Go by Autopot: The Autopot's system is so easy, cheap, and needs no electricity to work. The Easy to Go system manages periods of dried and humid of the soil with no problems, tu assure the oxygenation of the substrate, allowing the water to irrigate again once the substrate is dry enough.
Powder solutions to fertilize during growing phase:
The best 3 formulas to fertilize with powder nutrients during growing phase (and even during flowering to keep a healthy green plant) are
Powder solutions for flowering phase
During flowering (when the most interesting fertilizers are those that contain high levels of Phosphorus and Potasium) the best option (and biological too) is bat guano.
Don't forget that using poder nutrients it is important to not overdose with high quanitities of it all over the surface (if growers does that it is possible that the product instead of dissolving creates a hard layer on the top of the surface non dissolving). It is enough to cover the surface with a thin layer of guano to assure feedings for the next 10-15 days. As it happens with the growing powder fertilizers, it will dissolve as the water passes through it along the next waterings.
